This joint project, led by two key players in French and European tourism: Euro Disney and Pierre & Vacances Center Parcs, is located in Marne-la-Vallée, 6 km from Disneyland Paris and close to Val d'Europe. The opening of Villages Nature is scheduled for 2016.

[[yt:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekQDeUryiv4&feature=youtube_gdata]]

That said.... what an interesting concept. Is there really an existing market for this sort of mega-project in Europe? Or is this the first of its kind? And I have to think that a big chunk of those families will spend several days at Disneyland Paris, taking in singing robots and cheesy parades and eating junk food and buying chunks of plastic no one really needs as souvenirs. How does that mesh with the Village Nature message exactly? Odd, but funny. Only in France could you pull this off with a straight face.

Thankfully TWDC aren't contributing much cash to this deal - basically just the land rights. This is a huge gamble for Pierre+Vacances - they have never built or operated anything so big. They do have Center Parcs in their portfolio which is a similar concept - albeit on a much smaller scale. I still think the location won't be appealing. P+V will probably be able to shift the timeshares as they are very good in that space but the short-term rentals will be a problem. If it was being built in an environment with warmer winters it might work but the harsh realities of perishingly cold winters in Paris will hit their numbers. This is win/win for ED - virtually no commitment and guaranteed new guests on-site that might visit the parks or Village etc. The only potential downside might be a cannibalization of Davy Crockett Ranch sales but that is likely to be minimal.

Do you know if DLP Hotel guests can visit the water park as well. I wish Lava Lagoon would have been built. I've senn some concept arts and it looked amazing. As for the third park, I wouldn't be surprised if it wouldn't get built at all- Good to know that ED SCA isn't investing that much into that project, although I really like it. Hopefully it helps to bring more vivitors to the parks.

It is wider than just the third theme park as it covers urban development through Ile de France. <<Do you know if DLP Hotel guests can visit the water park as well. Lava Lagoon was just too big, grandiose and expensive. I think it would have struggled to operate profitably in this guise. I also think the location next to the Marina (behind the Sequoia) probably wasn't the right spot to attract guests.

I mean it will take another ten years to expand WDSP into a real Disney park and I'm not sure if there's a demand for a third park. I know there are still 18 years left, but I'm sceptical.
