It seems that a lot of people seem to thing this is the final look.

Is DL's getting the same effect? Installed now, or will they wait till the September changeover to NBC when it's down anyway?

And are there still mirrors that YOU appear in, as well as the projections? The whole point to the end, I thought, was showing them "in the doom buggies with you," which was always cool.

Why would Disney install a temporary effect? Why not just wait until it's ready, then install it.

    weird...

My assumption all along with this project was that they needed to cover up the mirrors and dismantle the old effects while installing the new ones. So, without an interim effect, you'd have a long hallway where you're staring directly at a blank construction wall.

Hopefully, we'll see the new effects in DL's Mansion, too, eventually. I recall that three or four years ago Al Lutz talked about some new, more interactive effects that were being developed for DL's Mansion. Looks like WDW will be getting them first. I'll be at WDW starting March 3rd, so hope to get to see this, even if it is a temporary "placeholder" effect, which I believe it is.

From what I've read elsewhere, the mirrors are covered up. But, I can't imagine that the final new effect wouldn't have the ghosts being seen in the Doombuggies with the guests via the mirrors. That's kind of the whole point of the end gag of the ride.

There are three possibilities that I see:
-The effect you are seeing IS the final effect.
-What you are looking at is sort of a "video construction wall" to hide refurbishments going on behind the mirrors,or...
-The final effect WILL involve those screens.(I don't see then installing temporary screens just to hide construction). In this scenario, what you are looking at is a sort of "screensaver" just to make sure that the screens work, and ultimatley, the effect will be a more advanced version of what you saw before. Who knows, it may involve video cameras on YOU, with the image of you projected on the screens(flipped horizontally, of course), and the new ghosts interacting with you, maybe using facial recognition?
We're all just speculating, but I don't see those screens as being temporary.

    This is the most plausible.
