I only stay there if I've packed my cop outfit :). Actually, Mr X is correct - I was referring to the hotel. Let me elaborate:

Whenever I suggest to people that they stay at the YMCA, I always get funny looks. The Salisbury YMCA in Hong Kong provides both dormitory housing as well as hotel lodging. The dorms are only on one or two floors of the building. The other floors have regular hotel rooms, ranging from single-person rooms to multi-room family suites. Since it's the YMCA, you don't get things like concierge service or room service, but the hotel rooms have all the basics: private bath, telephone, TV, minibar, high speed Internet access, etc. You even get a bowl of fresh fruit to promote healthy eating. Being the YMCA, there is also a gym, cafeteria dining, and of course a chapel with various services through the week.

I'm sorry about going into this in such detail, but the Salisbury YMCA is such a gem and by far the best budget housing option in Hong Kong that it's worth going into details. To get a hotel room at that location for the price is quite amazing - don't let the fact that it's the YMCA deter you. For not much more, you can even get a harbor view room, which has essentially the same view as at the Peninsula next door but at a fraction of the price.

Ritz-Carlton hotel will be located on the top portion of the building, probably the highest hotel in the world.
