We were stuck right in the end scene on the happy sappy ET planet where they are all singing. We were stuck there for 45 minutes. After about 10 minutes were started screeming and pleading for them to turn off the sound, but they never did. It just went on and on. When we finally got off they offered us tickets to return later and go to the front of the line. We ran away.

I never ever rode that ride again and my sister and I rejoiced when we heard it was closing.

As we were going up the first incline where the chocolate chip cookie use dto be floating in space (hey, I said it wwas 1981), the ride stopped. We sat there for 45 minutes before it got going again. No one ever came for us. By the time the ride stated moving again, we had to um, really go to the bathroom. All the bounces and twists and turns seemed magnified a thousand fold because we all really hadda go. By the time we got to the loading area, the cast members asked us if we wanted to go around again because we were stuck so long. NO!!!!!!!!!! we yelled as we sprinted (hey, I said it was 1981) to the nearest bathrooms.

I'm sure it's nothing glamorous, but it sounds fun to me.

We actually weren't on the ride yet, but had already gone down in the elevator and were in the hallway down there. The ride broke down, but they kept bringing down more and more groups in the elevator. It got very crowded, and I am VERY claustrophobic. Finally, they exited us through the emergency exit.

The cast members wheeled her chair to us, but the lead castmember refused to let me help her out and called the Disneyland Fire Department. I think the fire department was expecting to find a 400 lb person. They only found a 90 lb one. The real kicker was that the firemen had me piggyback her off the ride just as I argued with the lead castmember from the start.

The CM who was sitting at the station there told us to stay seated while she found out what was going on. While we waited we got to know the others on our inner tube and all sang Disney songs to pass the time. About 20 minutes later the water started draining from beneath us and we climbed out once it was gone. We were evacuated by going inside the Bear. It was really neat to see the inner workings and what I remember most is the steam and heat coming from all of the machinery.

Another time I was on Space Mountain with my ex and we were just finishing the last few twists 'n turns when we suddenly stopped. As we were sitting there in the dark the other cars were still going. Pretty freaky feeling.Come to find out there are only certain places where they can stop cars and they had to do it in a certain order. I was just a little freaked out. Once everyone was stopped the lights came on. It was amazing. I wish I had presence of mind to take a picture. The tracks seemed so close together that I will no longer put my hands up and I find myself ducking whenenver I ride. Once the problem was fixed (a lap bar that would not come down) we coasted back into the loading dock where everyone in line was cheering for us and there was an announcement over the PA system something to the effect that said, "The Astronauts have survived their mission". I remember the CM came to our car and asked if we all wanted to ride again. I was the only one who said no so we shot off again. I rode that next ride with my eyes closed the entire time. I've gotten over it and Space is still my favorte ride.

I was only 8 but I remember the skipper telling us the dark water system and how the water is only a few feet deep. Also how the Mark Twain was on a rail too but the rafts to Tom Sawyer's Island was not. I was fancinated by all the behind the scenes things he told us (back in the stone age before the internet). As I later went into engineering, even back then I was fancinated by how things worked.

Last month I got evacuated from a ride for the first time. It was Car Toon Spin, and we were right in front of the weasel who threatens to spray Dip on you. All the lights came on, the animatronics stopped, the music kept going but it was turned way down, which kind of made it feel like we were waiting on an elevator or something. :) Anyway it only took about five minutes before we were evacuated and walked through the rest of the ride. The portable hole illusion was EXPOSED in all its glory. The magic has been RUINED! I am forever traumatized.

Ok, not really. As we got out they offered to let us stay and go to the front of the line, but heck the thing was still broken down and hard telling when they were going to get it up and running. What's the point of being the first people in line if you have to wait anyway? Most people passed on it, and since we were so close to the end of the ride when we were evacuated it didn't really matter.
