I was so scared that when she took me to my teacher I stayed in the back of the room. And had to be coaxed to sit on the rug with all the other students. Sad memory, I know.

I also remember older kids rifling through a dumpster in the alleyway finding huge multi-packs of SALT that had been disposed of there. Weird to think I can remember back that far.

The ones that I went to worked together, and when you were fully potty trained, you moved to a different one, so I was probably around 1 and a halfish? (I'm not really sure, since I've never had the joy of trying to potty train a child) I remember later on saying the date every year, including the year, and I know that I was no older than 2. Anyway, my parents dropped me off, and I really didn't want to be there, so I cried for a really long time (new place, new people, all of which seemed scary to me). So, one of the nice teachers who was working on repainting the cubbies let me help her peel off the old paint in the hall area (it was really like a huge room with other rooms off of it). I slowly became more comfortable there, and I think I ended up with everybody else by the end of the day. It was just not a very happy experience. And mele, I literally laughed for more than a minute after reading that. There's just something about the subject matter and the wording that is making me crack up, even as I'm writing all this.

I remember being in my crib and thinking the Wicked Witch was coming up the stairs. I remember sleeping in a real bed with guard rails for the firs time. I got a new bedroom set. It was that popular look back then....the furniture was like a cream color with little specks on it. Anyone remember what I mean? Anyway, when the lights went out I thought the little specks started moving and told my mother there were bugs everywhere!
