They came up with the “reasonable†excuse that the Kirks were no longer needed, as Disney would never again do a project of the scale of Tokyo DisneySea. Political jealousy was extreme at the time. Unfortunately, while some of the situation has improved, much of that kind of attitude remains. I think their focus on outsourcing is a bit of a result of that kind of thinking.
