Not especially crowded, and while there was a building in the way of seeing the actual touchdown point, I still had an excellent view of the shuttle in the distance, just after it flew over Malibu, and all the close passes over the runway, all the approaches, and the landing roll.

    Well worth the vacation day, the $5 Metro day pass, the hike (1 1/2 miles each way between the Mariposa station and the corner of Imperial and California, but probably around 5 miles over the course of the day), and the $15 I spent on a radio and batteries, so I could monitor KNX.
