And with the way this year's other major animated releases are going, I'll take it.

There's just nothing fresh here, other than the snow. >>It causes these movies to become dated so quickly. (See "Jeopardy" overlay to "Universe of Energy")<< To me, the Jeopardy element of UOE has aged relatively well. Yes, the set is different now (they just debuted a new set for the 30th season last week) and Trebek's moustache is gone, but other than that it still works. The bigger issue is the Ellen sitcom setup; her popularity has fallen and risen during the last 15 years, but somehow she's still very recognizable. But the whole thing is very much based in her sitcom that is very 90's, and has been entirely forgotten from the public concious. UOE does a good job of working for an audience unfamiliar with the show, but it definitely has issues

That's 3 people still on ABC in some form. Still, the show("Energy" at EPCOT) has been in its current form for longer than it was in its original form, and could use an update. I'm surprised they haven't thought of a way to incorporate 3D into it, since so much of it is on screens. Getting back on topic, "Frozen" looks fun, and sort of seems to take place in the same universe as "Tangled". Still, that contemporary music, and those current catch phrases... We'll see how many times we hear: "just sayin'" "Worst.(insert noun).Ever."(that one drives me nuts. I think it started with the Comic Book Guy on The Simpsons). "Who knew?" Hopefully, we'll be spared a "twerking" scene with Olaf. It also vaguely reminds me of a Rankin/Bass special, and I mean that in a good way.

Originally Posted By mawnck >>Alex is still hosting "Jeopardy"<< Point of order ... Jeopardy is not - and was never - on ABC. It might be on the ABC station in your town (it is in mine too) but it's a syndicated show sold on a station-by-station basis through Sony Pictures Television. It was on NBC at one time, but that was before Alex Trebek.

The sarcastic "really?" and "Come on!" were a couple, but there were others. Sounds like lazy screenwriting. And like you said, it will become dated almost instantly, like a 90s cartoon with characters saying "Not!" or "Sike!" I couldn't believe how similar this looked to Tangled, too. The horse, the lead characters...guess the snowman is the "quirky" companion like the frog/lizard thing in Tangled.

She was one of the movie's more intriguing characters that I was most looking forward to seeing and hearing with Menzel's wonderful singing voice. I guess Elsa isn't that icy after all and warms up at some point in the film. I'm looking forward to seeing the film. It will be a nice holiday treat.
