If both parks are using the same name, and they're sharing the marketing, why advertise the wrong name for both locations? That seems a little silly to me (but I also thought it was silly to use the right name for one coast and the wrong one for the other coast...at least they're consistant now!).

There are any number of reasons to publicize it as Toy Story Mania. I think it's a sound business decision. The full name is too much of a mouthfull. "Midway Mania" doesn't really say anything distinctive. Toy Story is a very recognizable name with positive associations. So Toy Story Mania it is for the publicists, and Toy Story Midway Mania on the attraction.

Or maybe they'll think it's about Midway Airport in Chicago, where the entire ride consists of gliding along on electric walkways. But, my guess is that the marketing department is concerned that the public will confuse this ride in DCA and DHS with the Midway Lanes Bowling Center in Mandan, ND. And they won't understand when they get on the ride that not only are they not bowling, they are not even in Mandan, let alone in any other part of North Dakota. I suspect this last issues has marketing in an absolute panic, and as people exit the ride, they'll be wanting to buy souvenirs of North Dakota and bowling balls, and there just won't be any. This represents dollars lost to the company and will make them look bad. I can understand their issue completely.

If that really is the reason why Midway Mania is having the word "midway" downplayed in marketing material, then I am reminded yet again at how truly idiotic Disney's marketing team can be. They truly have a low opinion of Mr. and Mrs. America, and that's not a good thing when they are trying to communicate with them.
