It seems people are perfectly fine with Star Wars and Indiana Jones, but Marvel seems to bother so many. I'm not sure if a Disneyland park is the perfect place for Marl. In my opinion they fit better into a Studios park, since Disney will use the movies for attractions. HKDL doesn't have a Studios park, so I hope it will get built on the Tomorrowland site of the park. Is Marvel popular in China? I guess so, because otherwise Iron Man 3 wouldn't have been filmed over there and many chinese corporations are doing product placement in the movie.

But if they keep adding so many attractions to the park that are based on non-Disney movies there's no point in calling the place Disneyland any more. The original brand has lost its way and become a hodge-podge of many different studio's themes. ORWEN: This is why Disney just isn't Disney anymore. Some may not care but we do.

From a branding standpoint I understand why people are having a hard time associating Disney with Marvel's famous superheros, but really it isn't much of a stretch.

Iron Man 3 was filmed primarily in North Carolina and Florida. One week of filming was done in China (partially to satisfy requirements for the movie to get a decent release in China - long story). Additional filming was done in India and (of course) Los Angeles.

Just just a lot of unknowns about Marvel, and that's what seems to scare people. My guess is that once they've announced solid plans somewhere, and people see how broad (or not) of a plan it is, it will calm a lot of people down. Personally, I have trouble seeing it fit into a DL-style park because it takes place in a contemporary era, with real-world issues (with the excetion of Captain America). Everything else in the DL-style parks is set in a different era, either the past (Main Street, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, parts of Fantasyland), future (Tomorrowland), or somewhere that's vague enough that you really can't tell (Adventureland, Critter Country, Toontown, parts of Fantasyland). It's that whole "here you enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy" thing that written over the tunnel by the main entrance. To me, Marvel characters don't really fit any of those 3 categories. Yes, they have fantasy-esque powers, but it's gounded in a very real setting. This isn't to say that it won't fit in one of the other parks (since they have more contemporary themes), but it just seems like an odd fit for me. But so does the Toy Story area, so what do I know?

ED SCA CEO Philippe Gas mentioned at the sharholders meeting, that after Ratatouille WDSP gets a non-Pixar ride. Maybe HKDL and WDSP will both get the same Marvel land?

When those attractions opened I'm sure a lot of fans weren't happy but they didn't have forums like this one where they could voice their opinion.
