Spaceship Earth is looking better without the wand though, through the gloom and rain and oppresive weather.

Doobie.< I'm down for the next 2 weeks and I hope no more ALL day rains-- the pm t storms - not an issue as we are usually taking a break by then anyway - and when at Vero - it usually is a reminder by 2 pm or so that one has likely had enough sun for the day anyway... only 1 trip in the last 15 or so had any extended period where it rained Am and PM all day and night -- that did suck after a while... but a bad day at WDW still better than a sunny day at the office

Summers here -- and they tend to be a bit worse here in SoFla then in Orlando due to the proximity to the ocean, although we make up for it with some actual breezes -- are wretched. Depressing too. Nothing like trying to start a day when it is sticky, wet and gloomy-looking. Smart Floridians, or wealthy ones, leave around 6/15 and return around 10/15! I guess I'm neither smart nor wealthy ;-) But I do try to get to some area with mountains ... like Yosemite or Alaska for a few weeks, but it isn't always possible. Sadly, this year, it isn't! <<Here in Central CA, it's certainly hot and dry.>> I can deal with it. Hell, I can deal with Vegas in the summer. And in Cal, at least in the mountains, it may go to 100 during the day, but at night it can drop into the 60s. In SoFla, it seems to never go lower than 80 degrees all summer, even at 3 a.m.

Disney came up and the subject of the wand and my dad said, 'what really is even worse is how they ruined and cluttered up the front and made it look like a cemetary.' I now know where I get my spirited good taste. I just gotta say yet again, who ever thought the wand and graveyard were an improvement? A lot of revisionist Disney historians like to pin this on deceased Legend John Hench, but I don't buy that for a second. He may have had some similar concept for the stones, but I just don't believe his concept is what we've been subjected to since 1999.
