My topic for today kind of relates to the post I read in another section about Magic Mountain's Code of Conduct.
It's really kind of sad the way things have changed. One of the things I really liked as a kid going to DL was the fact that all of the employees were very clean-cut, the park was always immaculate, and the other guests were pretty civil.
It seemed as if the park people were really intent on making sure things were nice for all.
One particular instance comes to mind: It was the early '80s and my mom and dad took us to DL for the last time as a family, since the chicks would be soon leaving the nest (little did they know they were going to continue to have to go with us to DL even after we moved out LOL.) As we waited in line to get in, we noticed a tall chap sporting a tall, spikey mowhak, torn jeans, various and sundry, chains, spikes, studs, etc. (all quite fashionable for the SoCal punks at the time.)
One of the largish cast member types, approached the young man and politely told him that if he wanted in the park he would have to come his hair, sew up the tear in his pants, and leave his "hardware" in a secure area. The CM then provided the kid with a comb and hairspray (if he wanted) and needle and thread for the tear in the pants. The kid complied and proceeded to have a day at the park.
Want stands out is the fact that there was someone at the gate to monitor this kind of thing, the rules were explained, and a solution provided for the person in question.
It seems as if anymore, all kinds of inappropriate attire is worn, and the like.
    Anyway, just an observation.

I agree with your premise and would prefer things be more like the good ol days. However, I do notice that, by far, the great majority of guests behave well and are just at the parks to enjoy themselves.

When they dress rather strangely, I just assume they've done it for me as I am usually quite amused by them.

On a different trip cast members at the gate told some kids that if they wanted in they would have to take their chains off. I don't mean to sound prejudice but guys in drag or huge pants with chains and piercings all over and stuff like that can be kind of intimidating to a kid.

The good thing about it though was the fact that the kid actually put up no fuss, complied, and had a good time at DL.
I think that when I go to Magic Mt., I expect a buch of rowdy, fun-lovin' kids running around creating havoc. But at DL, I laways found it to be more family friendly.
I would definatly not say that it's gotten bad, per say, at DL, but it is just not like it used to be.
Still a blast though, and hopefully I will get to chaperone my sons eigth grade trip there this spring! If not I may just go anyway ; )

Capt Jack came out of the parade & commented on it as well as crush in talk to crush (called it a shark fin). anyways we all have our opinions but i think what it comes down to is it should be more about how people are acting than what they are wearing & what they look like. some people with tattoos & piercings & are really nice people & some people that wear suits are jerks. ya never know.
