She was my heroine in Old Yeller, first and foremost. She played characters of great depth. I really was impacted by that movie "A Summer Place" not just because I love Troy Donahue, Sandra Dee, Richard Egan and Dorothy McGuire, but because it's theme of divorce was my first tv exposure to the subject. I sincerely believe that film had an impact on people who started to believe that their personal happiness counted more than a filial vow. Rather than portay divorce in a "positive" light, the film was empathetic to the plights of everyday people. I was but a child, but I can remember that it did mark a changing societal trend. Three Coins in A Fountain, was another romantic classic. As always, Dorothy Mcguire played a character with integrity and devotion. It was a look at conspiring females at its best. I visited the fountain when I was in Rome. So, she found La Jolla Playhouse? I'll have to look up the city on a map. Here's to Dorothy MaGuire, a great lady and actress. We'll miss her.

I'm hoping AMC or TMC will show some of her movies now, so I can see some of the ones I haven't seen. I saw "Three Coins" years ago and don't remember it at all, would like to see it again.
