    I'll try to be hopeful but live action versions of Disney's animated classics hold little interest for me. It is like the story has already been told, and probably told far better than the live-action remake will do. Why bother?

    That seems like a bit of a leap for a movie that hasn't even started filming yet. Remember that this is a very old and often told story (the title song in the Disney film pretty much says that). The animated film was hardly the first or last version of it.

    Here's hoping Condon comes up with a third.

    But even if it's awful... well, let's say that the live action Jungle Book, for instance, didn't harm my fondness for the animated version.

    Given that Beauty and the Beast remains the single most important animated feature in Disney history (remember it was nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award), I'd say they have to make this live action movie as close the 1991 animation as possible. Otherwise a lot of people shall be pretty disappointed.

    Incorporating the famous soundtrack sounds a step in the right direction indeed. I was also extremely pleased to hear that Jon Favreau wants "I wanna be like you" for his Jungle Book picture. Proof if any be needed this won't be just another dreary Kipling version. Hopefully he may also be enticed to incorporate more music from the animated film as the process goes along.

    My biggest concern is how they will do the living objects. My hunch is that we'll see photorealistic clocks and candlesticks done in CG.
