    Thanks for the update Darkbeer.

    It's a real shame.

But even though the lines were reasonable, the park was still packed. It was bizarre. You'd think there'd be a correlation between line waits and sidewalk crowds. Not anymore.

Look, I know most LPers are probably APs. I've got nothing against APs, per se. If I lived in SoCal I'd probably own one myself. But there's a trade off; it makes an out-of-towner like me less willing to spend a couple of grand for a vacation there knowing how busy it'll most likely be, thanks to locals cramming in just to go to lunch or see the latest change.

I noticed the same thing (as we missed each other by just a couple of days). Packed park, but ride lines weren't bad at all. Lots of people wandering around.

We didn't have any trouble getting a table, even on the weekends, as people were mostly camping out for Candlelight Processional or fireworks or what-have-you. Main Street was a log jam most of the time.

If the problem is that they currently have too many APs in the parks, and they're trying to reduce the number some, maybe they should get rid of the monthly payments. The numbers never seemed unreasonable before they added that option...

I understand where you are coming from with having to spend thousands for a vacation and not be able to enjoy yourself as much as you should. I have experienced locals talking on rides, treating me like i was stupid for not knowing where the line began amoung other things which did get me peed off at times. I actually do have a Deluxe Ap but will only be going to the park maybe 2 more times before it expires in october. Look at it this way that we can appreciate the park and not take it for granted. For February i have tried to plan a trip where it would be less crowded and then rivers of america are drained, matterhorn will be closed and no fantasmic. So almost damned if you do or damned if you dont. I really dont know when a good time to go is i pretty much give up on guessing, i just still try and have a good time as much as i can.

But they need to jack up the prices again in March just before World of Color opens, and then do it again in September before HalloweenTime and Christmas starts again.

If they do that, then maybe by 2011 we'll have a more manageable AP base to work with and play host to.

Now that people can afford them because of the monthly payments (hey, only $20 a month!) They can jack up the prices even more (it's ONLY $1 a month more)

By the way, if you're not an APer, visit on Saturdays when it's usually not crowded.

As long as they keep the payment plan for all AP's, I would expect the AP base to continue to grow through these price increases. Disney has made it all just too easy for the masses to continue with Annual Passes.

Just wondering, if it's so busy, why do they still have the 2fer promotion?

That way it's not a sudden $50 or $75 all at once increase on the lower tier passes.

I would also just get rid of the lower tier select pass as well if that is DL's ultimate goal.

A zoo near my home charges over $100 for an AP--and they don't even have elephants! So, for SoCal passholders, I think they're still getting a rip-roaring good deal.

I'm not sure if I would. I have several friends who currently have APs that are about to expire, and they're all very seriously considering not renewing. Some are more busy than last year, but many just don't think it's worth it any more. If my pass had a spring renewal time, I don't know if I'd be renewing either. There are a lot of things to consider, and with my schedule (and not knowing where I'm going to be in the fall), I just don't know if it would be worth it for me. I wouldn't be too surprised if there were others out there, like my friends, who always wanted an AP, but after having one for a year see that it just isn't what they had expected.

Does anyone know if they are offering the payment plans this year? Knowing what is going on with that might help shape this subject a bit more~

For several years now I keep reading people online saying that Disney is going to reduce the number of APs. And year after year, I see nothing but evidence to the contrary. Payment plans, heavy promotion of APs.

I don't believe there is any interest among Disney execs to lower the number of AP holders a bit. The price increase are simply a matter of supply and demand at work. Raising the prices a few bucks on a regular basis hasn't hurt AP sales at all, so the prices keep going up.

Believing that the reason they are raising the prices is to cut down on the numbers is like believing they raise soda prices because they don't really want to sell so much Coca-Cola.
