Originally Posted By davewasbaloo Slightly different. X Factor is closer to Idol in execution, but there are 4 categories - Under 25 boys, Under 25 girls, Over 25s and Groups. They audition and eventually get to 4 acts in each category until there is one. Britain's Got Talent is like America's got Talent, and ideally is best when there are musical groups, comedians, magicians etc.

Unless they come up with someone as charismatic and interesting as Simon is, taking the show in a whole new direction, it just won't survive.
