They all got up and were gone by 6am, I think they each left solo. I was unsticking myself from the couch around 5:50am when the last one slammed the door. ;< Don’t mind us, you PAP snobs. I jumped in the shower, followed by Iceknyght – get your minds out of the gutter people. He’s like a younger pesty brother. We took separate showers sheesh!

The two Theresa/Teresa’s aka Sleeping Beauty and Canadian Teresa were still zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz'ing when Treach and I left. We were on Main Street observing the Pirates red carpet by 6:45am. We were snapping pictures and getting whipped into a high pitch Johnny Depp fever. We stopped and got mocha's. I was starting to feel like Ansel Adams assistant or some roadie groupie. I just know I didn't want to be a Darkbeer Lisa so I told Treach to stop shutter clicking. We walked through the Castle looking for quincytoo, Litter and Wendebird in Fantasyland. We didn’t see them so we went and got Space Mountain FP’s walking out I spotted Pixie Glitter. After conferencing with Iceknyght for 10 or 15 minutes on whether we should hide or go to her we decided to catch up with them at Buzz. I'm not sure what we all did but we had reservations at the Carnation Cafe at 9:30 and I know we waited about half an hour there.

Breakfast was da bomb! The food was good. Carnation Café is one of my favorite DL restaurants. Food is consistently delicious. We all chowed down. We had a rollicking good time laughing and talking about hoohoo business and such.

After our leisurely breakfast we went and caught Billy Hill again - this time Elvis Billy, much better. I’m not a huge Handsome Billy fan. Afterward, we started to split up a bit. I know several of us cruised through the new Pirates store. I bought my godson the Captain Jack Sparrow Collectors doll, the major cool Pirates jersey, and a sticker book. I had my AP renewel 20% coupon. The CM let me use my AP discount and the coupon – very cool!! I just know that Wendebird and I went back to our room around 2pm to relax. We took showers, laid down for awhile and such. We were running on only about 6 hours sleep in 2.5 days.

Our big birthday celebration dinner was this night at Tortilla Jo’s. Around 4:00pm, we both had wine coolers in the room. LOL - I was feeling no pain. I’m no lightweight when it comes to alcohol consumption but between the little sleep, lack of eating much and the heat, it went straight to me head. Litter, quincytoo, goodgirl, Teresa and Iceknyght came back and were teasing me about it. We kept talking and talking, no one was moving too fast. We finally all got ready around 5:50. I took off ahead of them because I wanted to be sure and check in at Tortilla Jo’s as I had reserved the Rhumba room for us.

So, we all wander in and up to the Rhumba Room at Tortilla Jo's. Thirteen merry mates in all. It took the Tortilla Jo staff a few minutes to get it into gear. They were a bit slow in bringing out the appetizers and getting us our drinks. Our main waiter was Luigi - the Italian/Mexican waiter - LOL! He was kind of nervous BUT warm and friendly. He turned out to be great fun and very attentive. I should have never told everyone about the 90 minute clock or the $100 charge for every half hour afterwards. I created worrywarts and clock-watchers.

Everything started flowing. We exchanged gifts and laughs. We munched on the same red tamales filled with beef and the tequila habanero BBQ chicken wings we had in July - good stuff! We ordered our meals and began to have a really good time. I'm not sure what time it was when the shots began. Let’s just put it this way…

    Food tab - $124.05
    Bar tab - $601.57
13 friends celebrating birthdays – Priceless!

I died laughing when the bill came. Considering we had a private balcony room, appetizers, dinner, and drinks it was a great deal. The scariest part of this is that we consumed it all in approximately 90 minutes time.

Now, we normally try to have a few nice dinners when we all get together and a bottle of wine or two is not out of the norm but we generally never “shut the place down.†None of us really have those type of personalities but leading into this trip there was a lot of working late hours at work and stress for individuals. So it was good to see everyone let their hair down and Boy Howdy did we. ;>

This is why after the second shot of Cabo Wabo’s one of our junior members head hit the table. There was no way we were going to make it into DCA. So we zigzagged our way back to our motel through two security check points and lots of rest stops. We had an awesome time back at our room visiting, laughing and nursing a few Cabo Wabo virgins.

Oh We needed to park another vehicle. So SuzieQ went down to get one from the front desk. I have no clue what happen but she came back upstairs a raging redhead. PixieLitter was in my face letting me to go down there and FIX IT and FIX IT NOW. LOL!

So, we head down there, SuzieQ and me. She clues me in that they are being very uncooperative refusing to let us park a second vehicle. Which makes no sense we have
two rooms and 10 people. Do they think we all got here in one vehicle? There was never a disclaimer to one vehicle per reservation, etc. Okay, we are scary, downright scary. We launch into this fabricated complicated high drama story about a sick relative with heat depravation (what is that? I have no clue) - I couldn't believe I could say it, hell I still can't spell it just to get the parking pass.

We never looked at each other. We just stood there and stared at the morons behind the desk. (Only thing missing was the Cowboy movie music in the background when the good cowboy and bad cowboy are standing in the middle of the street, hands at holster, squinting and staring each other down. badada, badada, badada....wind in our hair, scowl on our faces). One would talk, the other would join in. It was masterful I must say. We got JustDuckee a spot. I went up and got her to move her car. LMAO! Young punks! I know I’m leaving stuff out there is a ton more detail in regarding their horrible customer service with us.

Once the PP drama was over, we all kind of relaxed and just enjoyed each other’s company. Lots of side conversations. Eventually SuzieQ’s husband came and got her. Teresa
passed out. quincytoo hit the deck next. goodgirl solicited us. PixieGlitter and I pow wow'ed about beds and people. The Pirates Private Party fireworks happen, the sofa bed came out. Everyone changed into their jammies and then....

We tried to put the newly emerged Japtain Cack to sleep. Aye yi yi! I believe that took us about 45 minutes or so. Garden snakes, boxers or briefs, what's in my pocket, BJ's, cellphone alarms, invisible line drawn on the mattress, sit up, lay down, sit up, lay down - LOL high jinxs hilarty. A junior member of the group yelling from the other room - no I wasn't, I was just dizzy. Yeah, ok sweetie - nite nite. Wendebird playing cellphone games with a cheshire cat grin. Whew, Litter and I earned our Den Mother of the Year awards Saturday night!

Slow, smelly room, walk soft, shhhhhhhhhhhh their heads hurt Sunday is coming.

But it was fun to pretend I was Pixie Glitter while trying to straighten things out. Her name is probably on a list somewhere that says never allow a reservation again :D

I'll be glad when the 50th is over and I can go back to staying at my normal places - BWPPI, Candy Cane Inn and such.

And, well, they probably won't let me come back anyway thanks to SuzieQ--lol. When she came back up to the room and informed me that they wouldn't give her a parking permit, I started storming out of the room to go deal with them myself. She grabbed my arm and said, "Um, Pix, I don't think you should probably do that. I, uh, kinda told them I was you." LOL! I was left with no choice but to send in Lisann teamed with SuzieQ. As I was completely confident that they would, they did, indeed, get the entire mess handled post haste. I'm tellin' ya, those women should open their own travel agency!

No other amenities either: no pen, notepad. I don't even think there was a Gideon bible.

I walked into the continental breakfast one morning to grab a cup of coffee. They provide "make your own" toast and danish pastries, juice and coffee. I filled a cup with coffee and it was covered with soapy foam. Yuck. Tasted horrible.

I had high hopes for this place but will not recommend it to anyone.

I'm pretty sure it's due to the stress of trying to persuade Japtain Cack that it was probably a better idea to go to bed than continue reeling around the room demanding b. . . . . well, you know. ;-)

My take is when you are dealing with an older motel (which this is) the chances are you are going to need to deal with the front desk more - that would not be a good thing at this place in my opinion.

I'd suggest BWPPI, Carousel Inn, HoJo's, Candy Cane Inn, Annabella, heck even Raffles down the street was better.

I hope to hit one good out of the two. The plaza was 49 bucks a night when i booked in January. Couldn't pass that up. We have been there before and know what to expect. Should be no surprises there. Our best experience was last summer at the Carousel Inn. It was a very nice room, and we had no problems. I should have booked there again but I like to try new places. That explains the Desert Inn reservation.
