Whether that's a bad thing or not is another discussion, but like many of the other things in the film, the motive behind it seemed rather obvious. And while the 'bad guy' cars aren't really gas guzzlers (how much gas does a Pinto really use when compared to almost any modern car?), I did think that it was very clever that they used real makes and models that people already don't like.

It's not considered electric, or hybrid because it doesn't switch to running on gas if the electricity runs out. The gas actually charges the electricity so you aren't tied to outlets or charging stations. The "gas" mileage on this car is something like 100 miles/gallon.

The way it was approached in Roger Rabbit was a creative take on it, but I feel like they could do soemthing really interesting if the cars and trolleys were the characters. Not sure if they could tell that story and still have any of the automobiles as 'good guys'.

Although I think it's not so much anti-Pixar-ism as it is our current climate of political hyper-partisanship. The movie has fossil fuel in it, so it *must* be making a political point, right? Must ... stay ... out ... of ... World ... Events .......
