"Following the record-setting bonanza that was The Avengers last year, Disney decided that the best way to fulfill its long desire of expanding its empire onto the small screen was to give its new golden boy, Joss Whedon, the keys. Yep, years after putting up cult classics like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and the criminally canceled Firefly, Joss was handed a big-budget TV show about which a network actually cared."

There's something about Marvel as a fantasy franchise that is the perfect balance for all the barrage of saccharine princess stuff and tug-at-your-heartstrings Pixar material that has been the bread and butter of the WDCo for the past few decades. I can't wait to see what they do with Star Wars.

And then signing J.J. Abrams for the new 'Star Wars' movie. Getting John Williams to do the score? Score! Getting Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill to be part of it -- agai brilliant!

What impresses me if not only is Disney getting talented people to do these films, but they are not micromanaging them... They are allowing the people they hire to do their job with minimal interference...

    >>HANS!!! LOL<<

    :)

Didn't you think so? I loved the first Iron Man. I also enjoyed the Avengers, Thor, and Captain America. Other than a few witty lines, a surprising plot twist (that came way too early) and a couple of amazing action sequences, I thought this film was kind of a by-the-numbers experience. It was kind of pointless and designed for big box office and nothing more. Maybe I was in cynical mood when I saw it. Spending 4 days in Utah can to that to a person.

That seems to be Iger's style.

    No, I really liked it.
I didn't especially care for the first two Iron Man movies (they were okay, but nothing great) or Captain America (thought it was a big time snoozefest). Thought the first Thor was very mediocore (besides the fact that you get to stare at Chris Hemsworth for a couple hours). But liked this one and the Avengers a lot. Next Thor movies looks quite a bit better too, so hoping that'll be good.

It helps that Josh Whedon directed the pilot, I don't see every episode looking this polished..

It is a tough call for Paul Lee if it doesn't open big. There is a commitment but ABC has a terrible track record of backing underperforming shows these days - critical darlings or otherwise - and particularly procedurals.

It will be interesting to see if it can differentiate it between the other supernatural/superhero TV shows of the past and present like Fringe, Revolution and Heroes.
