Hello all, I was able to attend TDS' official debut day of their last 5th anniversary event "Spring Carnival" on March 21st, 2007. This carnival is best described as a very small sampling of EPCOT's Flower Fest, with special decor, lagoon show, menus and merchandise. The lagoon show called "Primavera" is a colorful pageant of dancers and characters, stilt performers, comedy, jugglers, music and fun. The show takes place around the edge of the lagoon, stretching from Lido Sage, all the way around to Zambini Bros. Restarant front area. Very colorful affair, with minimal use of watercraft..

The buildings around Mediterranean Harbor are decorated with flowery motifs, and Ponte Becchio in particular looks very nice, with the extra flower pots and banners... etc.

The Roman Ruins gardens have been turned into a springtime tribute to Pinocchio, which is quite perfect given the fact that Pinocchio is always tied to the italian feel of Med Harbor.

Anyways... without further ado... here are the photos from all that stuff...
    Enjoy.

    Beautiful, classy, and well-done overlay!

I was especially impressed with the very clever understated-but-stunning use of the salmon/purple/yellow ribbons in a number of locations. And with the sheer quantity of flowers placed around Mediterranean Harbor.

I also thought the create-your-own Ears was a stroke of genious. Perfectly themed to the event! and sure to be a big money-maker! Is this the first "add-your-own" Ears offering?

My neurotic self noticed that there didn't seem to be a central color scheme to the overall event. On many of the banners, bright spring colors (vibrant yellows and oranges) were dominant. On some of the displays (and in some gardens) muted colors of ribbon and actual flowers were used. (I think that's just me. I should get over it. The vibrant colors of spring-flowering bulbs can be mixed with the more muted colors of perenniels. I guess I'm just not used to seeing that here.)

TDLFAN, you haven't told us nearly enough about the "Primavera Special Show"!

We see that you apparently had a very good vantage point. We see that the costumes and set pieces are a bit underwhelming by TDR standards. But what WAS it?!

Does it have a storyline? Is it interactive? What music does it use? Did you like it?

As far as I know.. yes. I have never seen this done at other parks either.

If it did have a storyline... I didn't get it just by watching. Seemed like the whole thing was more like a "welcome to springtime" salute. Lots of dancing and celebrating, with many bright colors and such.. And yes, at one point in time, they do a little audience participation moments...where guests are encouraged to join in by doig a little hand waving, and they even do "the wave!" How odd is that?
The music is newly recorded for the event and quite fitting, and I would hope for a cd of the event to be released. All in all, a most enjoyable 15 mins show, with an understated feel, yet big enough to sink a budget at WDW.

    >>Fishing villages don't have flowers?<<

Not the ones I have been to and not on a year-round basis.
