Some of us believe that flip-flops, tees and dirty sneakers just don't mesh with fine dining. Yet, it appears as though in your never-ending quest to not turn away a penny, you can dress like you would to go to Denny's on 192 and still get shown to the elevator to take you up top. You and the staff might want to actually enforce that code. Oh, and while the service continues to be good, I have noticed some servers seem a little less inclined to go the extra inch when the DDP gives them 18% guaranteed no matter what level of service they provide. Small issues, sure. But as a Grill lover ... well, I'd like to make sure it continues racking up those awards all over the walls.

I think for california grill the minimum dress code could be: a clean polo shirt, clean khaki pants, and clean sneakers or business shoes. No jeans, No t-shirts, and No Flip flops / crocks should be allowed.

Then again... enforcing the dress code would mean, 67.2% of today's WDW guests would not be allowed to come near Florida. I would like that.

Though when I worked at DRC, chocolate always worked pretty well. Seriously, I think CM's just don't want to get into a confrontation, and I can understand that. But maybe managers need to be called for certain situations.

I would assume if a japanese guest was offended by that type of tee shirt, mayeb security would alert the offending guest about it or request to change it... but I am only taking a guess here. >>Seriously, I think CM's just don't want to get into a confrontation, and I can understand that.<< That is exactly the problem WDW has. NO one dares to remind the guests who is actually in control of the situation. So why bother having rules of conduct and dress at all? >>But maybe managers need to be called for certain situations.<< The managers are the ones I blame for the lack of control and the outrageous things that go on in the parks, because they are the ones who are quick to remind CMs to NOT bother guests when they are out of line or non-compliance.

And nice, non-ripped jeans should be OK in a theme park restaurant, even such a nice one as CG. But I do agree that an enforced dress code would improve the vibe of the place. >The Cast Members of today do not give a flying tamale and won't go the extra mile to enforce anything... < Rather than putting the blame on CMs, I'd put it on management and training. It doesn't seem too important to the company to enforce the codes, so the CMs are just going along with the trend. I'm a pretty casual guy, and I don't want to go back to the standards of the 60's. But there are some shirts that shouldn't be allowed, and some women (and even men sometimes) that are so tightly packed into inappropriate wear that they should be busted out of the parks!

Now, to get back ontrack, it's not that bad at the California Grill. But I did see more folks wearing clothes that explicitly go against the dress code than I ever have before. I'm sorry, but some places you should have to dress for.
