Since they would have the sense to not do it all the time, they were able to get away with it for a while. But once word started getting out, and every single guest wanted to see them do it, it got squashed very quickly. It appears that it did actually happen once or twice in the past, but someone had the good sense to stop it before it quickly spiraled out of control. And I agree with Mr X that Andy should be written on Woody's shoe, if they are going to be doing something where the bottom of his foot would be somewhat visible. Or they could just say that the characters aren't allowed to fall over into a pile, making it near-impossible to see the sole of Woody's boot, and that solves the problem too

I just don't know of any practical way that they could write something on his boot, and have it still look decent after a couple appearances in the park. Shoes tend to get dirty really fast, so I'd rather have them not have the name at all, than to have it look really bad because of perfectly normal wear and tear.
