But there aren't likely to be any more movies. The cartoon series is relegated to an obscure cable channel.

It's over. Star tours was an era that should have ended long long ago. It certainly has worn out it's welcome in 'tomorrowland'.

In with the new. Surprise us.

Simply swapping out the film and changing nothing else isn't going to cut it. I agree that the whole Star Wars thing has long past seen its apex of popularity. Disney should have redone Star Tours a decade or more ago. Now it seems too late and there really isn't any anticipation for it.

Disney has a habit of latching onto pop cultural phenomenons long after they have seen their prime, and during a time when they seem to be on the decline. They did this with Who Wants to be a Millionaire at WDW after the show was exposed to death on ABC, and even years later, they duplicated the attraction at DCA as one of a long string of failed efforts to generate some buzz about the park. And now Disney is doing an American Idol attraction at WDW. Does anyone even care?

But if you think Star Wars is just lasers, explosions, and another sci-fi movie, then I understand the dislike.

My kids love Star Wars, including the Clone Wars stuff. It's definitely designed for kids and not adults. I have mixed feelings about that: there's room for just kids stuff, on the one hand, but on the other, Pixar has repeatedly shown that quality work can be done that appeals to both children and adults.

Although leave it to Disney to misjudge its guests and force him in.

One additional thought: the franchise wasn't stale and dead until the "prequels" and the "enhanced" (read: revised) originals came along. Now, it feels super, super lame. We have the 3 originals in original-release form--they don't feel old or dated just as they are. But everything else from the franchise is horrid. Just one person's view.

I thought it was to be, basically .. now.

I thought the word on the street was it would be ready for a late 2009 opening. But I have a feeling it's more like 2010.

I bet you all they'll hold out for a July 17,2010 opening .. to coincide with the 55th Anniversary.

There's no other new attractions slated for the 55th .. so I think Star Tours 2.0, and a new parade are IT - for the 55th.
