It isn't original at all - all mistaken identity - but I guess they couldn't find another way to get Mater to the center of the story this time. The pace of the movie is very quick and it moves locations a lot so I suspect that will compensate for the weak storyline. I'm not a CARS fan at all - seen it once and it is the ONLY Disney movie I don't own on DVD or Blu-ray - but I think I like the sequel better. It is just more fun.

I would probably rank it ahead of Toy Story, a bug's life, Wall-E, and Ratatouille. It's not Pixar's best, but it certainly doesn't deserve the reputation it gets from a lot of folks. Originally Posted By wahooskipper I guess I should be embarassed that I really enjoyed Cars. I also enjoyed it for the messages to the kids. Fame isn't all that matters. Friends are important. There is nothing wrong with the slower pace of "flyover" country. Winning isn't everything if you have to step on people to do it. Loved the music too. Outside of the Toy Story Franchise I pretty much detest sequels (ok, I like the "Bourne" series too) but I'm looking forward to Cars 2.
