I also loved Mandy Patinkin's voice in The Secret Garden. Wasn't he set to play Quasimodo until Disney youthened the character? I heard he was pretty riled. Maybe he wouldn't want to do a Disney voice now.

I hadn't heard about Patinkin, but Meat Loaf as Quasi was also mentioned early in the making of the film. Patinkin did end up playing Quasimodo in the TV movie "The Hunchback".

I love many of his c.d.s-- Jim you should check out "Oscar and Steve", since you also appreciate Sondheim.

Interestingly, the Internet Movie Database (<a href="http://www.imdb.com" target="_blank">http://www.imdb.com</a>) lists him in the credits for "The Little Mermaid" under "Additional Voices". I'm not sure what exactly he did.

I think Carolee Carmello and Audra McDonald are sublime choices! Carol Channing would be a divine sidekick or perhaps a slightly goofy villain ala "Mad Madam Mim". And excuse me...aren't we forgetting the divine Miss Sutton Foster ("Thoroughly Modern Millie") and her brother Hunter Foster ("Urinetown" and the upcoming "Little Shop of Horrors" revival)? Marisa Jaret Winokur ("Hairspray") would be a GREAT along with the entire "Hairspray" cast which is campy enough to be a cartoon. :)
An entire vocal lead cast made of strictly Broadway musical theater up and commers is truly what I would be anxious to see!

P.S. The live film version of "Urinetown" is rumored to be in the works. Would love to see a Disney animated film that is just as satiric, biting, and Brechtian!!
