My thought was always the same "why would I want to buy someone else's silhouette?" Here's my theory People uncover things at thrift stores, yard sales, from relatives homes after they've passed away, and other sources. Somewhere the seller heard that "some people's junk is other another person's treasure" Sometimes they hear "Disneyana collectors will pay big bucks for old Disneyland stuff" [which is semi true but only the good stuff]So they post it up for auction hoping to make a few bucks. They use words like "rare" , "vintage", from Walt's day's" , and many times the erroneous use of "1955". 75% of the items in the vintage theme park Disneyana section of eBay is common $2.00 thrift store stuff from the 70's, but sometimes one can find rare items sold by uneducated sellers. I have seen pieces go from $5.00 to $100 in a day, if you click on sellers other auctions you can usually find similar items like more ashtrays from other places or other souvenir plates non related to Disneyland and they are getting $1.00 - $2.00. One seller even contacted me and asked why I was bidding so high LOL So... people hear of these one in a few hundred times that something was expected to sell for a buck but a collector paid $100, and they think anything with the Disneyland logo is gunna fetch big bucks. BTW I actually bought someone else's silhouette from Disneyland on eBay once. The reason was because it also came along with the original paper retail bag from the sixties, it was in pristine condition, I wanted the bag, I threw away the silhouette
