Parts 1-4 are about the strengths and weaknesses of the film, and starting at part 5 I present a revitalized version:

If everybody were to view it as a piece of pure fiction (nobody seemed to mind that The Lion King wasn't based on a true story) I think it would have been better received. Like Hunchback, Pocahontas has more adult themes than most of the features, but I still think its entirely accessible to kids

I get into this in detail in parts 2-4 of my review, where I point out the flaws that, *completely* ignoring the historical inaccuracies, make the drama of this film fail. I don't know if you've had a chance to read them yet, but please take a look at my criticisms of parts 2-4 and I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

As it happens, I actually find the "uncanny valley" where art fails to meet its goals a really fascinating subject, and it's not just a matter of Pocahontas, but rather what in general makes stories work or not work, what are the facets of character development that can drive a story, and how and why do they fail. Again, if it's not your personal interest fine, but don't think that just because something doesn't happen to conform to your interests that it can't be worthwhile.

I've seen a lot of Nostalgia Critic's videos. I agree with some of what he says, but mostly this guy is f---ing crazy.
