Yeah, I know it was one of the first to be on DVD back in 1999, but those were all bare bone DVDs and few count those. The original platinum edition DVDs were the following 10 which were supposed to be released annually, but they fortunately decided to speed it up, although this may mean more under the platinum editions then originally planned: 1. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs -2001, released on video before in 1994. 2. Beauty and the Beast- 2002, released on video before in 1992. 3. The Lion King - 2003, previously 1995 4. Aladdin- 2004, previously 1993 5. Bambi - 2005, previously 1997 6. Cinderella- 2005, previously 1995/6 7. Lady and the Tramp- 2006, 1998/1999(dvd) 8. The Little Mermaid- 2006, 1998/1999 (dvd) 9. One Hundred and One Dalmatians- 2007, 1999 10. The Jungle Book -2007, 1997/dvd 1999 If Pinocchio was released as an 11th edition, then it would be the first time since 1999, if it was released in '08, then it would have been almost a decade. It's funny, I remember in the early '90s on some of the Disney home videos when they were announcing Pinocchio's release on video around 1992, saying 'it's the last time this century you can own Walt Disney's classic', but then it was released on home video again in October 1999, perhaps a little sooner than they needed to release it, as they would not be releasing it again until almost a decade later. Another thing I thought was odd about the platinum editions is how they released The Lion King (1994) in 2003, and Aladdin (1992) in 2004. We had to wait 8 years for The Lion King to be re-released since 1995, but for Aladdin, it was 11 years since being released on video in the fall of 93. I don't know, maybe they thought a year after Beauty and the Beast, the two films were too similar to release back to back? Or The Lion King was thought to look better on Imax screens, so they did The Lion King first, or '03 just seemed to them a more Lion King year, and '04 was more Aladdin? I don't know. I know that The Fox and the Hound is scheduled for re-release this fall, but does anyone know of what is set for next year. Hercules would make sense for a re-release as next year will be its 10 year anniversary, plus it hasn't been released on DVD since 2000. Of course I'm talking in addition to the 2 platinums 101 Dalmatians (1961) and The Jungle Book (1967) And yes! I definitely can't wait to see Walt Disney's Classic Pinocchio get released on a special edition DVD in a similar fashion to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Bambi (1942), and Cinderella (1950).

This is one of the reasons why I haven't rebuilt my Disney collection on DVD; so many being released in various versions.
