It's entirely possible that they simply used old artwork or old reference to do new artwork, but usually they seem to try to be consistent with the current look (as long as they aren't slapping Cinderella's castle on DL merch). Any ideas anyone? I doesn't look like they've removed any gold as they remove the snow, but perhaps it will happen soon.

The extra adornments were great because they actually looked gold, but the paint just always looked a little brown to me. I know it's a tough color to get right and match with the rest of the colors used, but it just looks silly. The pink is also way too bright for my taste, but it's certainly faded a lot since they first painted it, so it's not nearly as bad. In my ideal world, the castle would be grey with just a hint of pink, with light beige where the gold is now. The bricks on the walls could also stop being sparkely, since it just looks funny now that there isn't bling all over the castle.

While they definately got the color right (I think they probalby used gold leaf), the location of it means it will get really dirty, no matter what they do. There's a reason that smokestacks are traditionally painted black.
