My 5 yo is looking forward to it. I have the first HSM saved on my DVR, and as soon as HSM2 comes on the program guide, I'll be setting it to record that too. I think we'll be at my grandma's the day it premiers, so we may or may not catch it.

I'll still set it to record anyway, just to be safe.

I know she'll want to watch it over and over again.

I know what I'm getting her for her birthday (besides the trip to DL). Jump In!, HSM, and, if it's available, HSM 2.

From seeing other stuff, I thiiiink that's 6 million viewers for all Thursday airings combined and the highest rating for any of the airings was 1.2. One article said the sequel's ratings come out Monday.

It wasn't as good as the first. In fact, it was fairly annoying. These kids 'push' so hard in these roles.

Zac Efron REALLY LOOKS into the eyes of Vanessa 'I have only one expression' Hudgens when they're singing to each other.

And these two are dating in real life? Where's the chemistry onscreen?

Pushing Sharpay into a lead role in this movie was a mistake -- Ashley Tisdale just doesn't have the chops to carry it. And her brother comes across like a neutered puppy, following her around with his tongue hanging out.

And that Zac Efron solo-song-and-dance thing on the golf course toward the end, was absolutely cringe inducing. What was he trying to channel Michael Jackson? It was brutal...

The movie started out strong with an energetic musical number with the whole school getting ready for Summer vacation -- cool -- but then, the rest of the movie can't seem to hold up.

I know, I know, I'm not the target audience for this movie -- I'm not a 'tween', but I did like 'High School Musical' -- in fact, the mindless musicals from the 50s are great fun, so it's not a 'I don't get musicals perspective.' Heck, I performed in countless musicals as an actor -- so I get the genre.

'High School Musical 2' was boring. You can make faces, and twitch your head all you want, kids, but that doesn't make for a good movie.

Also, the sections in between the movie where the cast is 'hanging out' at director Kenny Ortega's house? -- OMG, talk about the mutual admiration society. I could've used several cream pies to smash in their faces.

Sure, it'll make piles of money for Disney, and everybody will go out and buy the CD and so forth and so on.

*whispering* that doesn't mean it's good!

Hahahaha! I totally agree. As soon as his foot starting doing the tapping thing, my whole family burst into laughter. It wasn't necessary!

They were sooooo looking forward to watching HSM2. They planned a sleepover to watch it. After watching it, they were disappointed, and said it was "lame." Now it's back to hearing the "Hairspray" soundtrack over and over again!

Maybe since they've exited the "tween" stage, they're no longer interested? The beginning of the teenage years has been no picnic so far. (DD is 13 1/2. My mom just smiles and murmers something about "paybacks" when I complain.)

I thought it was just as awful as the first one was.

Thank heavens there was Radio Disney so we could continue to hear the music nonstop on the way to the store to buy the CD.

I could have sworn there was a classic Annette-Frankie moment near the end there with their foreheads together. That's what this movie reminded me of - squeaky clean, harmless silliness. It'll never get to Broadway but what's the harm in entertainment that shows young people choosing to do the right thing? I'd far rather have my kids watch this than Grease.

I thought the funniest part was the episode of Suite Life just before it where Ashley Tisdale tried to audition as Sharpay in a production of HSM.

I liked it- didn't love it but thought it was good. I esp liked the blond "sharpette" and one of the blond background dancers and thought they were great (I'm biased though they are my cousins...)

Im planning to watch again tonight :)
