I'm currently undecided at the moment. We have talked about going in the spring and ordinarily my plans wouldn't be greatly affected by the euro rate, the current rate certainly wouldn't be enough to stop me from going, but this next trip was supposed to be special for my sister's 18th and I'm wondering about holding off until later in the year and celebrating then.

My grandfather died a few months back and when my father gets his inheritance he is planning to take his grandkids to DLP (all 8 of them). That trip will likely wait until the summer either way, but figures will have to be carefully looked at. If they don't stack up I think the trip will be cancelled/postponed.

Does anyone know if the AP rates are converted using current rates or if a rate was locked in at a certain date as they are for packages? I'm actually wondering if a package might be a better bet especially if I can add on the half board option and the rate was decided in the summer.

I will still go to DLP (I'm usually a budget traveller anyway), but it might be less grand than hoped if the exchange rate doesn't pick up.

It's times like these I'm glad I don't have any debt!!!

Also I need to renew my passport and visas and am off to Spain in 9 weeks. So not much to write I sadly tend to discuss DLP debates on other sites now as there are only about 4 or 5 regular contributors in this section (most of whom are on the other sites).

UKFAN - the prices for APs I believe are based on current Euro rate and converted with the discount added, whereas packages have to sell for what they are in the brochure. AP holders can book half board options however, you do not need a package for that.

As for debts, let's not go there right now ;-)

With sensible shopping the travel shoudn't cost much more, likewise the hotel. It'll be the incidentals that'll cost more!!!

A suite at the Dream Castle is £288 (standard £180). Lakeview at Newport is £300. There was no availability at New York, DLH was £535.

Apart from the DLH none of those prices seem too scary!!!

Luckily our May trip, we are using our villa which we have to pay for anyway, our APs are still valid, and Tescos are taking care of the crossing. If it is really expensive, we could always bring our groceries from the UK and cook, but I doubt it will come to that.

Is this a reflection on the times or do they simply need to fill all the rooms?

I just got back from the Resort and had a very enjoyable time. The parks look great all done up for Christmas, hoping you have a good time.

As for the comments about no post, I tend to agree with what Dave says and I tend to leave all discussions for Paris on either MiceChat or the Magic Forum. Thats not to say I wouldn't wish to discuss DLRP here but no one seems to follow it with much interest like other boards. I know myself I have posted a few threads over the last few months that have gone unanswered.

As for my next visit, that is currently up in the air at the moment. I am planning a big trip to Tokyo, with a further trip to Hong Kong & Macau or California later in the year. May try and push a few days in Paris, but thats up in the air at the moment. All depends on how well recieved the new entertainment is going to be that is debuting in 2009.
