    --broke their mailbox
    --egged the garage door
--threw a claw hammer at the front door
--threw coils of nails at the front door
    --toilet papered the garage
--threw Cheez Whizz on both doors

Dad said the sheriff can't do anything since Dad didn't actually *see* them do it (*ugh*, I HATE legality!), and he's called the woman he knows who owns the house they live in (it's several hundred feet down the road); Dad says their mom's always chasin' men and is never home---she wasn't even home for Christmas week!

He said he's glad my truck wasn't there, and I sure am too---no tellin' what inconsiderate, rude, hateful-actin' kids might do to a vehicle out in the open.

He says he's gonna leave the porch and garage lights on tonight and have his shotgun loaded (to scare 'em off---this is farm and huntin' country so guns are normal, lol)

But *man* does this burn me up...here I was gettin' ready to go out and spend a little Christmas money, and I find this out. I was gettin' so riled up as he was tellin' me all about it---NO ONE messes with my family! My mom's just had surgery, she needs to rest and recover, Dad'll have enough to do lookin' after her while farmin', LEAVE MY PARENTS ALONE I'm afraid to hear of anymore stuff those idiots might pull...

    *sigh*

I had to get that off my chest...this p*sses me off sooooooo much...I swear if I didn't have to work up here, I'd wanna go down there and do whatever I can to see that those punks get their just desserts. Right now I really really really hope that the owner of the property threatens that woman that if her outta hand kids touch our property again, they're out on the street!!

    Thanks for listenin'...

I hope your mom has a speedy recovery and that nothing else happens to cause your parents additional stress.

We have had a similar experience. For years my parents used to do a HUGE Christmas display. The local bus department takes seniors around town to see the lights for a night, and they would always make sure to come by, one family used to leave cookies by the door, people would drive down from Canada to see them. Then one year, one of the smallest blowmolds disappeared, the next year there were a couple of egg attacks. And then finally, several pieces were stolen, the worst damage occuring on Christmas Eve and Christmas night. They had a pair of Nutcracker soldier blowmolds that they had for as long as I could remember, and someone stole one of them. So we spent the 26th taking everything down. The next year they put some lights out and a few things on the 2nd floor porch, but the vandals put an end to a happy experience for a lot of people.

No joy will ever come to these kids from this and that makes it an even worse crime. I think you and your father should do everything legally to catch these kids so they dont do this to anyone else.

Hope you catch the little punks so they dont do this to anyone else. I also hope your mother has a quick and painless recovery and things go well for them from now on.

I hope your Pop took pictures and documented everything even if the police don't take a report. Have your Dad and others keep their ear to the ground and if any of the kids brag to their friends about doing it or anything, maybe you could get the police interested then.

All of our neighbors are great, with the exception of two houses...the kids run loose all day and night and vandalize property, shoot pellet guns at homes and cars and yell obscenities to whoever is in earshot (usually an elderly couple that lives across the street). Man, that just BURNS me!!

Our police department is way understaffed here in Bakersfield and by the time an officer can get out here, the kids have all taken off and there's no "proof."

My mom doesn't work so she's home all day by herself most of the time. Luckily, she's one of those people that has put the fear into the those kids and they tend not to mess with our house so much. ;)

It is so unfortunate that decent people have to put up with actions like that. I just hope that your mom has a speedy and restful recovery and the little punks down the road get what they deserve.

I don't get why people would do this, either. Theft I understand. Vandalism I can't.

You didn't say why your Dad believes it was the punks down the road. If he has ANY reason to think that they're responsible, I'm very disappointed that the Sheriff's Department won't pay an "advisory" or "investigatory" visit to the floozie and her kids. There may not be anything "legal" that can be done at this point, but there's no reason the cops can't have a little talk that would put the fear of God into them.

Speaking of which... Remind your Dad that "PO'd" plus "loaded gun" is a common recipe for tragedy. He needs to be very careful.

I think everyone in your neighborhood should keep a loaded camera at the ready. One little piece of evidence resulting in one police charge against one hooligan might be enough to stop the whole pattern.

    Good luck with this. Argh.

I told Dad to keep his digital camera up and by the gun, lol (they don't have a video camera---and Mark, he'd never actually shoot in the vicinity of anyone [he's too responsible for that]; the most he would do is either let 'em see him holdin' it in the light or shoot it up in the air as they leave---he's always impressively had a cool head and good restraint in stressful situations where I would let my anger control me, but he does like to "talk a good game")

I swear, if I hear of one more incident I'll just wanna quit my job, drive down, and take the "night shift" of security at their place; of course I can't afford to do that, but man this just enrages me and brings out the hate---Mom and Dad have done enough for me and my sister, they don't deserve this crap. I know, not many people deserve it and I see at work that this happens to people literally about every day, but when it comes into your own personal arena it's just GRRRRRRRR.

And yes it was those kids, cause Dad saw 'em high-tailin' it outta there in the oldest "boy"'s blue Chevy truck. COWARDS.

What goes up must come down, dude. Shooting into the air is BADDDDDDDDDD - that's how I ended up with a bullet in the back.

That's a really good point. Maybe you could call the Sheriff on your dad's behalf and try and get him to do that?

Well, my parking spot happens to be right next to that apartment, so they would hang around my car all the time... I couldn't prove it at the time, but they were responsible for flattening my tire (took the tire valve stem out of the tire), took my windshield wipers blades, spilled something on the back of my car that I don't *even* want to know what it was, stole one of my spinners that happened to be on my tires at the time and then, right before they moved out, they keyed my car! I still haven't got that one fixed cause it's going to cost me an arm and a leg, but I did get someone to wet sand it out a little and it's not as noticable... *Knock on wood* but I haven't had any problems since they left... They were evicted for being rowdy... Well, when you're drunk at 3 in the morning and yelling and screaming in the parking lot, what would you expect? I am just glad they're gone!
