BTW, I finally got to meet Jody (haven't met Kevin yet, but I'm sure he'll be hanging out at Trader Sam's) and Jody is the most friendly guy I've ever met.

We shared our good viewing spot with a three generation family from Oregon. All ages were very pleased by the parade. I said to DW afterward that beautiful floats, lots of Disney characters and Disney music are what 98% of guests want. My only complaint is the music. Percussion frequently overwhelms and it is difficult to hear the "theme music" from each float. What I did hear might be called anemic arrangements. However, I am not really qualified to be a music critic.

Over-all, the look of this parade is quite nice but I would agree with what friendofdd had to say about the percussion being a bit too overbearing and thus drowning out the musical themes.

Overall, beautiful and a true old school DL parade.

With the exception of Aladdin, there are no other Disney hunks in this entire parade!!! How could they dare to leave so many of them out? No Prince Phillip or Prince Charming?? Shameful! No Flynn Ryder or Prince Naveen? Outrageous!! No Tarzan??? How incredibly over-sighted is that? Now I'm beginning to understand how Maleficent felt when she wasn't invited to a certain Christening! ORGOCH: She ain't been invited ta this parade, neither!! Bet she's all hot 'n bothered 'bout that, too! ORWEN: I noticed that neither Alice nor Pinocchio were included in this parade, either. Is that a First or what? ORDDU: Well, I know about that but what I DO know is that a parade without gorgeous hunks in it is like a day without sunshine! I saw bring on the male leads to these Disney classics instead of pretending that they don't even exist! ORGOCH: Maybe the menfolk weren't available fer this here parade. Maybe they was out chasin' down other women! Heck, with Gay Days just 'round the corner in Florida, maybe they was out chasin' down other MEN folk!!

Perhaps I would feel differently live. Perhaps if every segment had live music, I would feel more warm about it. But with the Little Mermaid, Star Tours 2, the new parade, the changing World of Color sequences etc. It shows once again Anaheim is the leader of the empire, as it should be. And I am not going to moan when Paris is so poor this year that people have been actively avoiding going until next year because the entertainment is so poor.

Antionette's Parfumerie, Paradise Pier improvements and ongoing work on Buena Vista Street. And Carsland next year! There's more going on right now than I can remember in a long time.
Originally Posted By DlandDug >>"Overall it felt like it was done on a tight budget..." Really?<< The video (as usual) really doesn't do this one justice. There is a deceptive simplicity in the design of this parade-- intentional, as it is intended to evoke children's pop-up books. But seen in person rolling down Main Street USA there is a great attention to detail. They also did a good job making the most of their budget. The large lavish floats are interspersed with the simpler "drum" units. I think having fewer really lavish floats is better than a whole string of more modest ones. (And the costuming is quite extravagant.)
Originally Posted By davewasbaloo I think I am spoilt by the Paris parade (though they dumbed it down), where all the floats and costumes are lavish (though Paris in the main has more lavish costumes than Anaheim or Orlando). That said, the big trade off, DLP has only really had 4 day time parades in it's 19 years. The DL demo would not allow for that. But agreed, these things on a Youtube Video would never be the same as being there.
