Second, one of the more recent episodes of "As the Bell Rings" really seemed to give Demi a backhanded slap over leaving the show. It's the one where they discuss Charlotte (Demi's character) leaving and introduce the "new girl" Alexis (or Lexi, for short). The memory of Charlotte is soon buried as the characters literally fawn over the new arrival and are entranced by her. It really comes across to me as a statement to Demi along the lines of, "You left us? Fine. We don't need you on this show, in fact we've got someone even better now." Did anyone else note the slightly hostile tone this episode engendered? It really made me wonder if there was a hidden nasty message in there for Demi. I doubt she could care less, though, I hope she continues on her way to bigger and better things.
Originally Posted By matthewdort I wouldn't read too much into it. I haven't seen the program, but Disney Channel wouldn't allow a serious slight against one of its stars, especially since Demi is being set up to be the new Miley, or Selena, or whoever.
