Originally Posted By TDLFAN You are able to bring wine bottles onboard in your carry on luggage with not problems. Just make sure they are properly wrapped to avoid breakage. Also, if you put them in overhead bins.. make sure the cork is still sealed and intact (meaning unopened) as the preassurization inside the aircraft's cabin may cause wine to spill thru the cork, and drip on top of passengers from overhead bins. One Federal Air Regulation to keep in mind... Consuming your own alcohol onboard is *PROHIBITED*. Only alcohol provided from crew may be consumed onboard inflight, as flight attendants are required to monitor alcohol consumption. If you open any alcohol beverage onboard that you brought with you and are caught by the crew, you will have to surrender your bottle or alcoholic beverage until the aircraft has parked at the gate, and you may be subjected to fines as provided by the FAA (Federal Air Administration). Flight Attendants are require to keep opened alcoholic containers in secured areas of the galley in order to avoid passengers from getting intoxicated and unable to perform if an emergency does come up later in the flight. I know this doesn't apply to you per se, but just wanted to pass that along as FYI for the benefit of everyone.

I have been told that there are some alcohol that because of the alcohol content is NOT allowed on commercial jetliners. Barcadi 151 comes to mind.

In Japan, any bottles passengers may bring on the aircraft are scanned by a separate small machine that looks for liquid explosive materials or hazardous liquid elements, such as fuel. Yet in the USA, this technology is not available and anyone can pass any dangerous liquids onto an aircraft. Or so it seems. Some security we have in the USA!!

Happy flying.
