It kind of looked like it might be able to move up and down a little from the construction pictures, but now that they've finished most of the wood decking, that doesn't seem as likely. Apparently there's also a removable stage that can go on top of the fountain in the center of the park for other special occasions as well.

Overall, I think it will support the same kind of entertainment as the old amphitheater, which is nothing. It will be useful at night for viewing WOC, but during the day it will most likely be abandoned. They might put some stuff in there for special events like the Ccalifornia Food and Wine Festival, but I wouldn't expect to find stuff on a regular basis. But then again, I'm a little cynical.

I've been ignoring every lame marketing event they've had on a stage in that space for nearly a decade. Only if they get the Go-Go's or The Beach Boys to come back and sing will I maybe stop and watch for a bit. Until then, it's going to be a well-preserved Kathie Lee Gifford up there shilling her new cookbook or some such drivel. Pass.

Sadly, I think we'll be stuck with Kathie Lee Gifford.

The pre-Fantasmic! entertainment works because it's out on a raft in the river, and everybody is facing that way anyway. If they were to put some sort of mini-show on the stage right before WOC, then they couldn't use that space for guest viewing, which sounds like will be limited anyway.

I wonder if they'll have raft entertainment pre-WOC the way they do with Fantasmic, then. Probably a good idea, especially at first.

As for guests viewing from the stage, yeah it's a front row seat, but it's also the lowest spot available which might adversely impact the view. You may also get wet there. Although I can imagine people against the railing above seeing the flat wide open spaces directly below them and feeling like they're being cheated because they can't stand down there.

Who they should be worried about entertaining is the thousands of people lined up down the parade route with their Showpass waiting to be let into the amphitheater an hour before showtime. Ha!
