I'm now completely hooked!

I love the camera work, and the performances are great throughout. Jessica Lange is incredible in this, and as the mysteries of the house's previous occupants/victims are unraveled, it gets more creepy and twisted.

What I like most about this show is that, so far anyway, there's not a wasted line of dialogue. It all seems to fit into a larger puzzle. Great show!

Really wanted to like it. The opening scene was really cool and interesting.

That first scene with Jessica Lange as the creepy next door neighbor -- absolutely brilliant.

But, then, like 'Nip/Tuck' it has to get gross and dark and ugly. Ryan Murphy sure likes to write about people with weird psychological problems.

Finished the first episode, but don't think I'll be returning.

That sums up why we decided not to watch any more episodes. I didn't really find the ugliness and darkness interesting enough to be intrigued. I was more, I dunno, depressed after watching it instead of a bit excited about the "chills" and story to come.

I'm still bummed that I don't like it. Lange is really good but the family is just too unlikeable to watch (for us).

They're a mess, to be sure. But that too is kind of part of the puzzle -- does the house attracted messed-up people, or does it help make them that way... or both?

That question is actually more interesting to me than anything else on the show. ;-)

I guess I find "normal" people more interesting than people who have to put on a dark, weird facade for the world.

Maybe I just didn't see any resolution to these people's angst and dark pain. Just more pain and misery to no end.

Maybe my pain and misery quota for the year has been met. (You hear that, Universe. Quota met. No more vacancies.)

One thing I did really kind of dig was the opening credits. Very Sevenesque.

Like when the father sees the middle-aged maid as a sexy young thing; does he see her that way ALL the time? If he sees her that way intermittently and then sees her as she is, wouldn't that tell him something is completely off?

And, of course, the classic "why the hell do they stay in that house?" question. At least the mom at the end of the second episode said she wanted to get out, but wouldn't all three of them at this point be running for the exit?

That said, some of it is convincingly creepy, and I like the way they mix up different periods so it's not just one horrible incident that happened there, but several (though that has led to a bit of "information overload" in the first couple of episodes; but I expect that things will become clearer - I don't mind a little mystery).

Willing to keep watching for now - ep's 3 and 4 are available on demand.

He does. A little more is revealed about that as the show goes on. 4 episodes in, some of the pieces are falling into place, the "rules" of the house are starting to take shape a bit more. That said, the rules seem somewhat subject to change without notice.

Looking at the show's website, there are some other grisly incidents, and potential ghosts, that have not yet been shown on the show itself. Depending on how long the show lasts, I expect that new ghosts can be introduced on an ongoing basis.
