You would make reservations at one of the restaurants at the resort (for instance, Storytellers) and you paid a minimm for dinner in return for dinner and a seat at the candlelight ceremony. You don't necessarily need a ticket to see it, but you will be standing on the outer fringes rather than sitting. Through some wonderful stroke of luck/timing, we ended up sitting in the first row last year (my first) about 6 feet from Dick Van Dyke. It was magical.

The two-day special Christmas event at Disneyland will once again offer guaranteed seating to people who buy a dining package for one of the participating resort restaurants. The prices and exact terms for when you need to eat in relation to each of the four performances (two on December 2 and another two on December 3) are not yet known. What is known, though, is that this year Disney is relieving the Disney Dining phone operators from the burden of handling the onslaught by making it a requirement that the reservations be placed online. So, on Sunday November 5, 2006, the floodgates will be open at both the main Disneyland Web site and the Annual Passholder Web site. We're not entirely sure why they are offering it in both places so it may be that AP holders will get a price discount or priority in some way. The initial word on this was that it would only be available on November 5 on the AP Web site, but several operators have assured us that will not be the case and everybody will be able to sign up beginning beginning November 5. *** Just read that over on mouseplanet.com
