A discussion about cultural expectations of responsibility and how they affect men and women differently? I tend to think women still end up on the short end of the stick, though I do think simplistic media depictions of women as beleaguered champions of family responsibility and men as lazy, sports-watching ne'er do wells are absurd. I despise shows like "Everybody Loves Raymond" for that.

Or...if that's not where you're headed...how about a lot of men enjoy caring for their car and doing yard work and just about no one enjoys mopping or ironing.

Hey, if they're 25-38 and unhappy about that then they can come over and visit me and that will get them in a good mood fast.

I actually do feel that advertising a lawnmower as a Dad present is a bit in the vain of ' because his male and must mow the lawn' I know my Dad would be unimpressed with a gift like that.. Mind you he'd hate receiving tools a well because he'd have to figure out how to use them!! I think I'll stick to books/ newspaper subscriptions! Much more of a treat for him!

You seem to be under the impression that we don't do stereotypes for mothers day...

So I guess all the chocolate/flower commercials are all in my head.

Remember the Simpsons when sales execs need to fill a gap in holidays so they invent Love Day? Homer was totally dejected that he didn't get Sir Hugs-a-lot.
