This is following the Dorner rampage and Empire Nightclub shootings last week.

Why not do the same with guns? Or maybe you're just trolling.
Originally Posted By ecdc >>when more people die from alcohol reasons than guns daily in the U.S.<< Link? Proof? See also what Dabob said. We've cut DUIs in half by getting tough. Amazingly, we decided restrictions and tougher laws were smarter than more alcohol, unlike what the gun lobby wants. And despite all of that, anyone of age can get a drink with relative ease. Let's absolutely regulate guns the way we regulate cars. I'm all for that.

Maybe we can talk to them like we do our children and say, "We're not talking about DUIs right now, we're talking about guns."

I am all for gun control but as the 2nd or 3rd post basically made fun of alcohol deaths, I am going to argue the point since you guys are acting like idiots...

Originally Posted By ecdc >>So even though deaths might have dropped for DUI deaths, they are still higher than murders with guns...But let's keep on spouting out total BS and discount those that have a differing opinion than you...<< Except that's not what you said. You've moved the goalposts. What you said was: >>when more people *die* from alcohol reasons than guns daily in the U.S.<< Comparing gun *murders* is very different than comparing gun *deaths.* You've removed accidental shootings and suicides. Even taking suicides out of the equation still adds between 5,000 and 8,000 gun deaths to your totals...which makes them either exceed or at least very close to alcohol related deaths. Including suicides, around 30,000 people die in this country from guns every year, far eclipsing the alcohol related deaths. So your statement was incorrect. >>but as the 2nd or 3rd post basically made fun of alcohol deaths<< No, it didn't. It made fun of gun owners like Donny who, in the face of most gun threads on these boards, bring up DUI and alcohol related deaths. Again, you are incorrect. >>I am going to argue the point since you guys are acting like idiots...<< Hmmm...you were wrong twice and that makes the rest of us idiots?
