Foot in mouth disease is usually incurable. As for this situation with the little kid. We've taken our kids to one or two marriage equality rallies. And I'm sure there are people who think that was too political. But they mostly played with the other kids there. Our oldest has been involved in some anti-bullying stuff and some environmental stuff through church. To take your kid to something you think is important that isn't patently age inappropriate, that is one thing. I see why some people do it and some don't. But it sure seems like the kid is really uncomfortable and the mom is pushing him to do this. Maybe he really wanted to, maybe it was his idea, and he's just really quiet. But that sure isn't what it looks like. It looks like he doesn't want to do it, but she is making him. Unless I know more about the situation, I'm not going to cast the first stone. But I do have a nice one picked out, just in case.
