As the video game industry gathers at the Los Angeles Convention Center this week for the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, a devout group of publishers is praying for a direct strike on their elusive target: the eternal souls of game players. One game, "Left Behind: Eternal Forces," which debuts today at the expo, features plenty of biblical smiting, albeit with high-tech weaponry as players battle the forces of the Antichrist in a smoldering world approaching Armageddon...

An extremely violent movie, but it was heavily endorsed by churches, and families were encouraged to see it. I guess if violence is used to spread your message, it's ok...it's just not ok if it doesn't.

At the very least it sounds like it presents it in a way that is not too preachy. Although I'm not really into RTS games (real time strategy), this does sound like a step above most of the "Christian" video games that have come before. I guess time will tell if people are interested or not.

Either way, I won't get it because I totally suck at video games, no matter how often I play them. I'm in the middle of "The Incredibles" and have been stuck on a Dash level for the past couple days. AAAAAAAAAAAACK!

You got to go around a forest pickin' up the 2x2 animals and load 'em in the ark, and gradually the atmosphere would get darker (i.e., "cloud cover"), and thunder and lightnin' would increase. Boy howdy, you better get them animals loaded up 'fore the storm hits! Man I loved that lil' ol' game, heehee...

So I wouldn't think anyone would let their little kids play it. At least I hope not. >>Maybe it will have an unlockable Pat Robertson as a superhero character!<< >>Benching 10,000 lbs for Jesus!<< Nice comments. Adds nicely to the discussion. I have girls & they're much under 13, so they'll most likely never play a game like this. IMO, video games don't need to be so violent, but then again I don't have kids who like that sort of thing. Also, I gotta say, my sentiments echo Beaus. Why the bashing on a Christian video game? I'm sure there are much worse/violent games out there to bash. Why this one?

Now, it could be considered poking fun and Christian fundamentalists and evangelicals, but that's another story. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis.

Why bash a Christian video game that is full of violence? How about because Christians are often decrying violence in movies and on tv? How about because children who are 13 are still children and, again, the game is violent. How about because many, many children under the age of 13 will play this movie? How about because I disapprove all violent video games, tv shows and movies? How about because I disapprove of teaching children to live in fear of God's wrath, Armageddon and the Rapture? I can do every single one of those things and still BE a Christian.
