I just spoke with work, which is several stories up in an office building in Houston. It's howling, creaking, rocking, and rolling. Originally Posted By NikkiLOVESMickey <<At the very least, they should be sent bills for the cost of sending Coast Guard helicopters and the like to go get them.>> I completely agree, especially since they were warned how deadly this storm could be. Last night our governor held a press conference telling people along our coast that search and rescue teams would be sent in for the few people that refused to evacuate; they knew how many people had stayed in each town and who they were. I think it's ridiculous, especially after Katrina. I read on cnn.com that Galveston has taken on 7 feet of water. God help them if they haven't left and, if they have, I hope that they receive the help they need to get their lives back on track as soon as possible.

People have found out that the RN rate doesn't exist - it turns out he was making a joke and really wanted them to ask for the lowest possible rate available. It's nice to know that when people are fleeing a city for their lives that Ray Nagin will be there to crack a joke instead of telling people what they need to know. What an idiot - he's the Bush of New Orleans. To anyone who came to New Orleans from Texas, I personally apologize for our idiot mayor and would like you to know that we understand what you're going through and will do anything possible to make you comfortable during your stay here.

Hope your co-workers rode things out without too much trouble, and hopefully they have power (if they ever lost it in the first place...). Scary stuff, these 'canes!
