The x-ray is freaky- looks like his foot is sitting next to his leg. He's not in too much pain yet but he's pretty down. He's very athletic ( his baseball team won state last summer) and he's looking at 6-9 month rehab. That also means no football. I told him things could be much worse, but that is hard for an 11 y.o. to see right now. If you're a praying person, please keep him in your prayers.

They gave him medicine that was supposed to knock him out when they did that but I think it just made him not remember it. We have a Disney Make a Wish trip coming up sometime ( it hasn't been set yet)- I told him everybody would think he was the wish kid. We are also going to DL first of August. He'll be walking some by then but I'm sure he'll still need a wheelchair.

It is hard being so far away from all of his friends and the rest of the family. Hopefuflly he'll get to go home tomorrow. He just found out his leg is going to be non weight bearing for a couple of months. He keeps playing basketball in his sleep-then he wakes up and tears up.

They didn't pin it because they said it would heal naturally. Well 18 months later I left the wheelchair. It did indeed change my life (for the better). So I can totally empathise. Originally Posted By momof4boys Thank you everyone for the prayers and good thoughts. He is doing amazingly well. We got home last night and it is very good to be home. The doctor said he was very lucky that he didn't lose his foot. He said when he saw the x-ray he thought he would lose the foot ( glad we didn't know that ahead of time!) but amazingly the nerves and blood vessels were all intact.
