At some point in time you have to ask yourself what is all this muck raking about? For what end? OK, so its not a perfect world. But I think at the very root of the issue is that each of us truely just wants to be our own individual person. Has anyone of us reflected on the idea that society kind of cataloges us all into groups. Its much easier that way, just grouping everyone into catagories according to sex, race and religion. Aren't we greater than that. Have we become so caught up in all this group thought that society has lost its ability to look at each other, celebrate each other based on our individuality rather than our ability to sync with each other into some greater collective.

I know its the 21 century but there are some aspects that I truly hate about these times. I really don't like how politics have torn with nation apart; Liberal versus Conservative, Democrat versus Republican ( or Liberitarian ). Why is all this going on? What happened to working together? Does this nation work better together as a team? Why the demonization? Why does anyone have to put someone down just to further their own cause?

Lately I have been looking up a lot of information about gay rights, black rights and the Civil Rights movement. I came accross an article about a group of girls from Mississippi who called themselves the "Free to be Me" group. They wore baggy clothes and dreadnocks and for which got ridiculed by other in their town. They did however create a website addressing gay youth issues.

Maybe, just maybe the 21 century can be an exciting new direction for this country. Maybe instead of being devisive, we can be inclusive. I know that the goal I want to see happen. Anway, I want to conclude this day on a happy note. Reading the messages in World Events has been a big "downer" for me today. I need some uplifting and reading that article about the Free To Be Me girls really helped cheer me up. I'm off to the gym. Have a pleasant night everyone and hey, be yourself!

As nice as this would be, humanity just isn't capable of it in any significant way.
