The linked story actually says that the recruiting targets were exceeded, not that recruiting is up. As we know from William's reports from the inside, this has been accomplished by lowering the targets. Oh, the irony in seeing media distortion in a story posted to show media distortion.

    - "Moderate RINOS Undermine the GOP" along with a rant on McCain. Gee, this sounds awfully familiar. I seem to remember a poster or two in these parts saying EXACTLY the same things, using the same terminology in fact.

These things just stood out to me right away, and I wanted to share.

Funny. I had heard it was up...on CNN no less. So much for the "despite the media" B.S. And yes, recruiting goals had been lowered but the overall numbers are increasing according to AFTimes.

BTW, I know what RINO imlpies but not sure exactly what the acronym stand for.

Yes he is, I mean come on now, he is going to offer YOU a 15% discount lest anyone thinks this is about money and using the troops to pad his bank account he doesnt have to give the 15.

Ah, ladies and gentelmen, need i remind you, this is a great idea for the troops, who the libs like Cindy Sheehan, only want to use to feel better about themselves.

Notice the military doesn't have a huge desire for Al Franken and Air America memberships.

Recruiting numbers ARE up. If they were down, the usual suspects on here would be posting it as a huge success for their side... but they support the troops.

According to the article linked from Rush's website:

In October 2004, the Army had a goal to enlist 6,935 new recruits and signed up 6,952.

In October 2004, the Army had a goal to enlist 4700 new recruits and signed up 4925.

As the article pointed out the goal for this year was about 30% lower than it was last year.

The article also mentions that it missed it's recruiting goal for 2005 by a wide margin - even though those numbers were already adjusted downward.

This just shows how dishonest Limbaugh is when he interprets the news for you, Beau. Even you should be able to see that recruitment is not up.

With all the Bush lied talk and the anti war media slamming the public with constant bad news regarding Iraq, SF voting to ban the military from schools, it's nice to know we have patriotic young people who are eager to serve.

Another fact is that many of the recruits are coming from households with high incomes.

I hope my son enlists when he is 18. It would be a great way to get his life underway.

Was that in 2003? That's the last time they were.

Read the article that Limbaugh links to. It's pretty clear they aren't.

He is? Got some proof on that?

If he has been giving them away why does he now need to charge for it?
All i see and hear is he wants people to pay him 50 bucks so he can then "give".

Tell me, If he was about anything other then making money for his own pocket why not just give it to all the military people.

Why should he just give things away? What exactly do you people on the left have against capitalism and profit?

I knwo for a fact Rush is giving away a huge amount of subscriptions to people in the militray himself.

He has thousands of people who are buying memberships for people in the military since they only get one hour of his show and they want all three.

Sounds like a win- win - win to me.

You can GIVE Air America some cash, since they are begging for money to stay on the air. When you do , you will get a nice Air America tote bag.

First im not some guy on the left, but i guess you got nothing else so you always throw that in to make your posts longer.

Second, If he is so behind the troops and supports them so much, he could and should give it away, What does it cost him to let some people read whats already there that are defending his draft dodging behind.

If its all about capitalism and profit, Any members of the service that are defending this country please contact me i got some great water front property in Florida i want to sell to ya.

I heard the caller on Rush's show that came up with this idea. I heard the soldiers call in one after another who are excited about the promotion.

I also heard Rush say he is donating a large block of subscriptions himself.

Yet you bitch because he's not giving everything away for free?

Are you complaining that Al Franken or Randi Rhodes from Air America are not giving their website pay feature away for free to the military?

Oh I forgot.... the military wouldn't take Air America crap if it was given to them.

    Again, what a sport.

Beau, even you must see that Rush would be making so much profit from folks here at home willing to pay for what he offers that he could quite easily offer content he's already creating at no cost in the name of patriotism.

Hold him accountable for stuff, will you?

I mean, he's got million of loyal followers willing to shell out $50 a pop. How many soldiers are in Iraq? Wouldn't you say that all those millions paying for the content would still be enormously profitable? Heck, as a simple PR gesture, he'd probably wind up getting more subscribers. If he doesn't do so in the name of patriotism and being consistent with his "support the troops" philosophy, he could do so in the name of a smart business decision.
