Should people who have a fatal D.U.I. be charged with murder ?

What kind of murder do you mean?

And just because a drunk driver is involved in a deadly collision doesn't mean the drunk caused the collision and ultimately the death.

When I was 16 I jumped in a car with some wasted baseball teammates after a party back in high school. The driver(18) was "drunk as a skunk". Another car crossed a double yellow and came very close to creating a head-on at 50mph. Someone in our car, if not all of us, would have died if we collided.

Now if the driver had a history of DUIs, someone who makes a habit of driving after getting sloshed, I personally like the idea of a murder charge. The premeditation is in knowing a fatal accident could likely occur because of the impairment.

Again, what type of murder are you talking about?

In California(are you in AZ, Donny--- I forgot?) we assign penalties for killing another based on circumstances or level of culpability/intent.

I don't think that's a good argument. After all, don't we ALL get taught from a young age here in the US that drinking impairs your ability to do things, including driving, and that drunk drivers can kill?

What about a driver who relies on corrective eyewear but willfully goes out driving anyway and runs head-on into a family of 4 due to poor eye sight killing all of them.......is that a 15 to life offense?

How about the woman applying makeup and looking in the rear view moirror instead of the watching the road and slams into stopped traffic killing another?

And what about street racing-----going 110mph down a blvd and hitting a street whore who just happened to be looking for her next 'John'.

All 4 driving scenarios can be just as dangerous as DUI since that kind of carelessness can kill.

If you ask me irresponsible/dangerous driving is all the same and should be treated the same.

I don't have a thing in the world with folks smoking drugs I just don't want them heading my way at 75 mph.
