I work in law enforcement and I am personally all for putting criminals behind bars but 30 years for this crime seems a bit stiff. Not to mention it will be expensive for the state to keep her in that long. She did plead guilty. Murder in this state is 25-life (then again this was Colorado). Don't get me wrong I don't condone what she did in the slightest but it does seem to be a bit of a harsh sentence to me. What do you think?

So gadzuux, in your world it is O.K. for adults to have sex with kids, after giving them drugs and alcohol?

I think what people objected to here was a woman getting teenagers high and then taking sexual advantage of them.

Seriously... your kid goes to a friend's house and either a) comes home smelling like alcohol, is intoxiated and high or b) does not come home until late the next day and even then there is tell-tale signs.

    I don't get this...

Are the older ones taking advantage of the younger ones? Probably - so what? More relevent is how old the boys were when this happened. Sixteen? Seventeen?

Is this a "crime"? It's debatable. Thirty years? That's a lot.

Summer of `42. Would you send jennifer o'neil to prison for thirty years?

it's an accumulation of the counts. Each one has a minimum sentence, and when you add them all up, apparently it's 30 years. Had this woman restricted herself to just a couple of instances (rather than the socially acceptable none), her sentence wouldn't be all that severe. Taken in its entirety, I don't think many can argue she's a danger to underage kids around her and needs to go away for a while. As the "adult", she's supposed to know better than to do any of this stuff.

By way of comparison, my old boss in private practice, whom I wrote about here not too long ago, just got 14 years for the unauthorized practice of law. 28 separate counts, each carrying a minimum of 6 months. As the judge said to the prosecutor when the prosecutor recommended 4-6 years, which of these victims would you like for me to tell they don't count?
