    >>Joe Biden offered perhaps his most off-message statement yet since being tapped as Barack Obama's running mate, saying in an interview that he thought one of his campaign's own ads was "terrible" and hadn't know about it in advance.

Asked by CBS's Katie Couric about an ad Obama released earlier this month mocking John McCain for not being able to use a computer, Biden criticized the commercial and suggested it had been aired without his knowledge.

"I thought that was terrible by the way," Biden said of the computer ad in an interview broadcast tonight on the CBS Evening News

Asked why it was aired, Biden said: "I didn't know we did it and if I had anything to do with it, we would have never done it."<<

Glad to see Senator Biden make these comments, the ad was dumb and stupid.

I don't see where DB said it was bad- what is bad is the accusation here that basically every McCain ad is and Obama attack ads are dead on -
each side is more than capable of and already producing crap

question I have is who said I'm xxxx and I approve this ad?

And what DB left out was another great statement by Biden. He did point out that the ad by the Obama camp was nowhere near the ad produced by the McCain camp on Obama's vote on sex ed. Again, it's lacking in nuance or shades of gray to say both parties are the same. They're not. To say that Obama wants to teach children sex ed before they can read, when his vote was really in support of teaching children to protect themselves from sexual predators is unconscionable. Obama's ad poked fun at McCain; he shouldn't have done it, but there's a difference. I get frustrated when people insist these things are all "just the same."

I'm sorry, I know you are only stating what you believe - but so am I - I see that as the same...and done to sway voters exactly the same way.

Can you imagine if the McCain camp 'poked fun' at Obama's race. OMG, the world as we know it would end

there is age discrimination in this world as well - and as I get older - I see it on a daily basis

It was a targeted shot for certain voters- plain and simple.

(I actually disagree with Biden on this one, but am happy to hear the man isn't afraid to express his opinions even if they contradict his boss...let's see Sarah Palin do THAT)

we're back to intent of the ad - and sorry, I agree with Joe Biden, he knows it was done maliciously - at least he's not afraid to say so..

No, I totally disagree. There's a difference between old and "out of touch", and McCain happens to be both.

One shouldn't matter in a campaign, but other is entirely relevant.

***we'll go back to the race issue - there are different ways of pointing out that Obama is black - do you think they're all the same too?***

    Yes.

Does being "too black" mean the guy doesn't understand how to use a blackberry?

Doddering is not something I find appealing when it comes to choosing a president. In fact, it's pretty scary.

I disagree with Biden on this one. It wasn't malicious. I'll say this much though, it was pretty ineffective.

For downright malicious, you need to look at the McCain campaign. There's plenty there to satisfy even the most vicious mind.

Injuries to his arms/shoulders make it virtually impossible for him to keyboard.

I guess that makes him BOTH stupid and stubborn. Stupid for getting shot down and Stubborn for not giving the North Vietnamese what they wanted.

    [rolleyes]
