So why not try something new to get the American Voter to show up and Vote...

    Here's my idea -

Tell me why I should vote for you. Yes it is that simple. Tell me what you will do and why you think that is the best plan.

Tell me what you want to change, why you want to change it and how you will go about trying to make the change. Tell me how those changes will effect everyone.

DON'T tell me why the other person is bad - don't spend your money on campaining against the other - Spend your money on telling me why you are the best choice for the job you seek.

We teach our kids from a young age that spreading rumors and calling names is wrong... but then the people who want to be our leaders constantly spread rumors and call others names...

Why can't we just have a clean election that is straight forward and focus's on each persons strengths and insights on how best to run a city, county, school district, state, country.

It seems like if they actually have to tell us about themselves and their plans they are afraid we WILL make an informed decision and therefore they won't win.

Knowledge is power... Why not give the people of our country the power to make a smart choice!

This is going to be a long fall. They really can't keep it up at the level or higher that we have seen this week or NO ONE is going to vote this fall.
I'm glad you, gottaluvdavillians started this thread, because earlier this afternoon I was thinking the same way. Not that they need to express their views and policies so much as I have done my research and I know who I want to vote for, but he could easily lose my vote if they don't knock off this crap. I won't vote for the other guy, but I may pencil in Mickey Mouse.

Here is how someone is going to get my vote:

1/ Address the off shoring of America's white collar jobs that has lost over 8 million jobs in 10 years
2/ Address the exhorbitant cost of higher education in a country that needs to get more competitive - quickly - in technical training and education
3/ Tell me if you are going to raise taxes - approx how much and on who. No more code words - no more we're only going to tax the rich folk - and then that turns out to be a screw job for the middle class - as the rich find a loophole and the poor don't make enough to play in it
4/ If you are going to change the health care system - tell me when and how - and how much it is going to cost -- no more pie in the sky, this would be nice dreams
5/ Tell me exactly what your plans are in the Middle east - Iraq / Iran / Afghanistan / Pakistan et al...yes we know the current policies were flawed - old news
6/ Tell me if you are going to change the way we are trying to secure our homeland. I am fine with any attempts to improve - but again, facts not crap
7/ Tell me if I am going to see a nickel ofmy social security 'donations' - since you already have allowed corporations to steal peoples pensions - will the government be allowed to steal the rest of it ?

All the 'hot button' issues that made headlines and divided people last election mean little to me in the bigger picture. No more diversions- emotional issues etc. None of them seem to affect our security or our economy - so let's get our priorities straight.

I don't care if out next president is black - white- woman - man or a German Shepherd if they will answer the above questions honestly they likely will get my vote unless I don't like all the answers.
